The X-Files will be returning to FOX for a 10 episode season during the 2017-2018 year. This also marks the return of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
President of the FOX Broadcasting Company, David Madden, had only good things to say about the return of The X-Files to the popular TV channel.
“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why ‘The X-Files’ has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide.
Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of ‘The X-Files’.” – David Madden, FOX Broadcasting Company President
The X-Files will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Ten Thirteen Productions, and was created by Chris Carter. None of this will be different on this new season, as Chris Carter is returning to be executive producer.
