Some days ago, a wild listing on Amazon Italy appeared, getting all the gaming masters excited about it. Yes, I’m talking about a reboot of the recently released Tomb Raider 2013, but for the PS4.
The Amazon Italy listing even had the information of the game’s release date, which was set for January 24, 2014.
Sadly, that listing was removed soon after it was discovered, killing the hopes of many Lara Croft’s followers around the industry. Fortunately, Square Enix seems to be hinting at an upcoming release for a this game.
“It’s so hard to keep a secret these days! We appreciate all of the enthusiasm, however we don’t have any details to share just yet. That said, we highly recommend you keep an eye on any major gaming events happening in early December.”
That’s what a Square Enix representative told IGN.
It is well-known that one of the biggest gaming events of the year is the Spike TV VGX Awards, which will be taking place on December 7. Might that be the even in which Square Enix will talk about a new Tomb Raider game?
Everything points to a yes.
Square Enix filled a trademark for a game under the title Lara Croft: Reflections which seems quite legit, as you can see on the Trademarks and Designs Registration Office of the European Union, under the Trademark No. 012300927
This trademark has been filled by Square Enix, and was updated on November 12, which was around the date in which that other Tomb Raider game appeared over Amazon Italy; coincidence?
There is no official word yet about this, so everything we say right now is speculation, but you can check by yourself.
The real question right now would be if this is a sequel to the Tomb Raider 2013 title, or if it is a completely different title… What do you think?
